Work in Jersey or Guernsey as a Seasonal Foreign Worker

I show you how to get a job in Jersey or Guernsey and move there for work as a foreigner.

Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man are part of the British Isles. Jersey is the largest of the Channel Islands, between England and France.

A self-governing dependency of the United Kingdom, with a mix of British and French cultures, it’s known for its beaches, cliffside walking trails, inland valleys and historic castles.  in the United Kingdom are seasonal work stations.

Jersey is not part of the UK and is not represented in the UK Parliament. By charter and convention, the UK Parliament does not legislate for the Island without consent. However, the UK Government, on behalf of the Crown, does retain formal responsibility for the Island’s defence and, to some extent, its foreign affairs.

Guernsey is an island in the English Channel off the coast of Normandy that is part of the Bailiwick of Guernsey, a British Crown Dependency. Guernsey.

Foreign workers go to Jersey, Guernsey to work for 9 months only between March to Dec/January. So the best time for one to start applying is from November to January as by March most employers are always done with recruitment and ready to start the season.

In the past, most foreign workers from Kenya came to Jersey, UK through Utalii College as that was the easiest way to go there as most hotels only recruited from Utalii.

Currently though, there are quite a number of people who came through applying on New Jersey job portal websites while others went through referrals from friends.

The requirements to work in Jersey and/or Guernsey as a foreign worker include:

• a hospitality course of which here they only recruit receptionists, Housekeeping, Chef’s, Kitchen Porters, waiters/waitresses and bar staff.
• If you have the qualifications and 2 years experience then someone can easily get a chance.

To note:

Jersey is quite a small island and the current challenge that is there now is housing.

Most employers have staff shortage but the problem is where to house them. I have seen quite a number of people who get contracts come on their own to look for houses but end up going back to their countries because of that.

The houses in Jersey also have qualifications. Like for a normal person you will be under registered status, people like company directors will be under qualified. And now we have the locals who go as entitled so getting a house and the price would also depend on your status as a registered person cannot stay in an entitled house.

If the housing issue is sorted then am sure many people will have a chance to go to Jersey.
