How I got here and plans for future growth
Around this time last year I had around 2,000 subscribers on my Travel with EvaMtalii YouTube channel (I grew from 1,000 subscribers to 22,400 subscribers between September 2021 and December 2022).
Since then, I’ve grown to 54K+ subscribers on my Travel with EvaMtalii YouTube channel and I’m going to share some thoughts on how I got here and my goals for future growth.
What's Covered in This Article
Subscribers aren’t everything or are they?
I am humbled that 54,000+ amazing people choose to subscriber to the on my Travel with EvaMtalii YouTube channel and I’m incredibly honored.
Are subscribers everything on YouTube?
Or are they also some vanity matrix?
Just because you have thousands of subscribers doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve made it on YouTube and are a successful YouTuber.
How then do you measure success on YouTube?
Total number of subscribers? Total views? Earnings from the YouTube Partner Program?
When I had less than 10,000 subscribers on Travel with EvaMtalii YouTube channel, I used to get very few views and also very little money from YouTube Partner Program than I’m making now!
Except for November 2022 – story for another day. But you can get a glimpse of it from this video right here.
With the increase in subscribers has been the increase in views and the shmoney too 🙂
I believe increasing your subscriber count definitely helps attract more views as there is a high likelihood that YouTube may recommend your videos, but, at the end of the day, subscriber count does not automatically translate to views which is the essential ingredient to getting paid via YouTube Partner Program .
But, it does add up (keep reading to learn how).
How I grew to 54K YouTube subscribers in one year
I posted videos.
And, posted videos and posted some more.
In September of 2021, I started taking YouTube more seriously.
Here are some things I did that contributed to this growth of subscribers:
- I shot and published videos on YouTube every day.
- I shot and posted 20–30 YouTube videos every month
- Engaging with viewers during Lives and in the comments section where I made sure to respond to every comment I possibly could
- Created video playlists which helped boost my viewership
- Joining TikTok and backlinking to my Travel with EvaMtalii YouTube channel helped boost views
- Consuming other creators’ content on the platform kept me motivated and made it easier to create content too
Plans for reaching 100,000 subscribers
Obviously it won’t be a walk in the park but I hope to hit the 100k milestone by June 2023 latest.
How the heck do I plan to hit this goal?
I plan to continue doing what I’m already doing and more:
- Create and post 30-40 videos every month on the Travel with EvaMtalii YouTube channel
- Consistently publish more content the EvaMtalii TikTok account and drive the traffic back to Travel with EvaMtalii YouTube channel
- Publish 20 -30 shorts every month on the Travel with EvaMtalii YouTube channel to leverage on shorts Ads revenue sharing which will begin early February 2023
- Growing my EvaMtalii blog
- Being more intentional in promoting my Travel with EvaMtalii YouTube channel across other social media channels
